Re: Dr. Henry Morgentaler dies at age 90 |

| The FCP acknowledges the passing of Dr. Henry Morgentaler yesterday. While his legacy will be one of disrespect for new life and laying the groundwork for our nation to become one of only three countries in the world without abortion laws (and the only one among democratic societies) we are proud of the magnanimous pro-life commentary showing respect today for HIS life. We maintain that the need to promote life in our province and nation did not begin, nor does it end, with one man. The FCP continues to stand for life from conception to natural death in Ontario. |
TCDSB trustees squash motion to ban gay-straight alliance clubs |
| Fri, May 24, 2013 - 02:23:28 PM - By Christine Chubb, CityNews Toronto |
| Gay-straight alliance clubs will continue on in Catholic schools. On Thursday evening Toronto District Catholic School Board trustees voted 7-4 against a motion brought forth by Trustee Garry Tanuan that would have seen a ban GSAs, which goes against the province’s Accepting Schools Act. The Liberal anti-bullying act passed last June at Queen’s Park by a vote of 65-36 and allows all students, including those in the Catholic board, to use the term gay-straight alliance. Tanuan’s motion, which was seconded by Trustee John Del Grande, said “Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) clubs promote a positive view of homosexual activity, which undermines Catholic teaching on chastity and marriage.” It goes on to state that “The Church’s solution to bullying is being ignored and Church teaching is being undermined by these clubs.” For full story, |
Libs, NDP demand help to tie own shoelaces |

| There was never going to be an election this Spring. It’s being reported that a June election will likely be averted after Liberal leader Kathleen Wynne had an “optimistic” talk with Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath yesterday. If an election was called now the Liberals would most certainly fall from power. Ontario voters are frustrated with an unelected Premier installed only after a prorogation-enabled leadership contest. Multiple spending scandals also plague the Liberal Party of Ontario. The Liberals made a lot of expensive promises in the budget and, while the PCs sit the whole thing out, the NDP would appear ridiculous not to support a budget covered in orange marker. But that is not the focus of our comment today. Our focus is on our government’s handling of money. The FCP stands for fiscal responsibility, which is a fancy way of... |
Record 25,000 pack Parliament Hill for Canadian March for Life |
| Fri, May 10, 2013 - 08:17:24 AM - By Patrick B. Craine, Lifesite News |
| OTTAWA, May 9, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Up to 25,000 pro-lifers packed Parliament Hill today under threats of thunderstorms. The bad weather, however, held off, providing sunny conditions for the 16th National March for Life. This year was another in a continuing series of record-breaking numbers for the federal parliament's largest annual rally. Organizers estimated the crowd at likely near 25,000 given the clearly visible substantial increase in numbers over last year, when the count was 19,500. This year the March was obstructed by construction across the entire base of Parliament Hill, making the exit off the Hill considerably longer because of a bottleneck at the one narrow exit. That, coupled with the larger size of this year’s crowd, resulted in an estimated 2,000 attendees not being able to get off the Hill for the March before the front of the March... |
Inappropriate Teaching in Toronto Schools |

| If the contents of this report concern you, then you need to know about the education advocacy work that's going on in Ontario right now. The FCP and more than a dozen organizations are partnering to inform families about changes to public school curriculum, and what they can do about it. Are you outraged by this report? This is exactly what was being proposed by the 2010 Ontario Health Curriculum. Now, Premier Kathleen Wynne wants that curriculum to come back. Many parents simply do not want their children exposed to this kind of material. However, the FCP agrees with Mr. Lilley's comments that not every family has the option of pulling their children out of public school. Thankfully, there are ways in which parents... |
