In the last few years, the concept of family has
been blurred by what is portrayed in movies and media (e.g.: the
normalization of extra-marital sex, promiscuity and sexual
self-gratification). Politically correct forces
and interest groups are also promoting "sexual
freedom" without responsibility.
Here we want to specifically define the model
(the ideal) of the traditional family, as an institution that preceded and
outlasted social groups, secular or religious organizations and
states.
There
is a difference among different levels of expectation:
-
the
religious definition of family and morality (what the Church
expects from individuals),
-
social
family law (what government requires for safety and social
order), and
-
cultural
reality (often a-moral and dangerous).
The
FCP is not a Church. Although based on a moral philosophy, our
policies cannot impose
morality
on people.
We, as a political party, can uphold moral ideals and identify the negative
impact of immorality on individuals, family and society.
However, we can use the law only within the limits of
government, which has to respect individual freedoms and the
role of families.
The
definition of family is given here to present the ideal
definition which translates into higher productivity, standard
of living, self esteem and is generally better for
society.
Given
the above considerations, the family is defined by the
FCP as the set of those individuals related by ties of blood,
marriage or adoption.
The
FCP further realizes that the term family is generally used to
mean the "nuclear family" (i.e.: a married couple with
children or a single parent with children), but the FCP realizes
also the value to society of the "extended family"
which may include
more persons related by
marriage, blood or adoption. Click here for the official
policy defining the family.
