When speaking about the family, we cannot even
start a conversation unless we agree on the concept of family
and its definition.
The
family is a natural institution founded on natural law. It pre-existed
social groups, religious institutions, political systems and
the modern state. However, all of the above institutions
recognize the family, whether informally, formally, or in law,
as the fundamental building block of society.
The
history of the family is long and of fundamental importance
<re: family rights, proclamation/manifesto>:
It is based on the union between a
man and a woman
and it has to
do with life and death, survival of the group and ultimately
survival of the human race.
The
family is the building block, the fundamental
cell of society.
Today
the family as a natural, traditional institution, is under
attack from several
fronts.
Statistics
on divorce, single parenthood
and youth violence show that the institution of the family is in decline and that this decline
leads to the decline of society.
The
FCP clearly understands, and would restore in family law, the roles
and responsibilities
of parents, children and the state with respect to the family.
